The Creaney Reading Buddies program aims to encourage our junior students to become ‘lifelong readers’ by supporting the development of their accuracy, fluency and comprehension skills. During Terms 2 and 3, students in Years 1, 2 and 5 meet in our Library before school on Mondays and Tuesdays. The older students pair up with a younger student to listen to them read and provide them with feedback to assist with their learning, as well as demonstrating what a good reader looks and sounds like. Many of these younger students go on to volunteer when they reach Year 5 to give back to the program because of what they gained from the experience.
